The soundtrack of my life...
The sounds of bossa nova and samba bring me back to my childhood. When I think back to some
of the happiest memories I have, I can still hear Sergio Mendes playing in the background.
I came across this album by accident in 2005. I didn't know the impact a purchase I made in Tower Records was going to have on my life.
This album is the perfect blend of samba and hip hop. I could not believe that Sergio Mendes (who my parents listened to) was colloborating with some of my favorite artists - Black Eyed Peas, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, India Arie, Erykah Badu... the list goes on!
This album ended up being the soundtrack to my early 20's. I spent a whole summer listening to this album non-stop.
A decade later and I still LOVE this album. It is hands down one of my all time favorites. Listening to this album brings me back to that summer of 2005. Laying in the hot sun and hanging out by the pool. Watching the palm trees sway. Staring at the blue sky. Enjoying a cold beverage as I lost myself in the music and just enjoyed being alive.
In 2007, I watched John Legend in concert and almost died when he sang his song from this album!
In 2013, I got married and we used the song "Timeless" during our slideshow. Not to mention our first dance was to the Jamie Foxx and Sergio Mendes song from the "Rio" soundtrack.
How Sergio has played so many songs in the soundtrack of my life...
Awesome collaboration! This is truly an enjoyable album!!
I could not be happier listening to Sergio Mendez in every way, shape or form!
He is a genius!!!
Más Que Nada! 🏆⚽️
The Mas Que Nada remix with the Black Eyed Peas is timeless! When listening to it, all I can think about is the 2006 World Cup in Germany✈️🇩🇪 and the Jogo Bonito era, with Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Dida, etc. Too many memories! 🙌⚽️🏆✈️🇩🇪
This is the bomb!
For all of you who have tried to get your children to listen to 'music' and failed: THIS IS THE LAUCH PAD! For real. My children NOW are interested in the original works because they like this album. Thanks to the musical fusion on this album! They want music lessons, their instruments won't rot! Yeah!
Garbage. When "mas que nada" was originally recorded, it was pure soul, their culture, their soul, their performance. A lot of "musical" geniouses forget that it is sometimes ALL about money, not music. Mendez was not recording with all his comtemporaries of HIS time, no, he was fine difining his own sound, his own soul, now he is old, and running to the younger artist for survival, what a mess, he is done in my book. a sell out by definition. ..money is king, and it is bad for true lovers of music.
This album is great! One of those albums that you can listen to from beginning to end. A must have for music lovers.
This is my jam I love the original better
